Support Taming the dragon

About Taming the Dragon
With kids back in school, one of Porchlight’s most impactful programs is back running as well: Taming the Dragon.
This program takes our expertise in children’s mental health into schools to provide students in grades 1-8 with tools and techniques to deal with anxiety and maintain positive mental health.
In the last two years, over 2700 children have directly benefitted from the program and 100% of teachers who participated in post-participation surveys indicated they’d recommend the program to a colleague.
Our challenge
But, unfortunately, all is not well in Dragon Land. Due to changes in the funding landscape, Taming the Dragon is not fully funded for the 2025-26 school year. Some new funding from the school board, and a commitment of resources from Porchlight’s reserves, has allowed us to ensure the program is available at a lower capacity this year. However this is not sustainable long-term.
In order to return Taming the Dragon to financial sustainability, we’re asking for the support of our community and supporters. If you have the capacity to support this program through a monthly or one-time donation, helping children develop strong mental health habits for life, your support would be greatly appreciated.
