Porchlight's overnight winter Warming Centre IS re-opening November 1st!

If you're outside at night in Cambridge, and need a place to warm up, Porchlight's Warming Centre is available for you.

The Warming Centre is located inside at Wesley United Church, 6 Cambridge St., Cambridge and is open from 8:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. seven nights a week.

Warming Centre

The number of people currently experiencing homelessness in Waterloo Region is unprecedented. Like most communities across Canada, we are in a housing crisis.

In response to urgent needs, for the second consecutive year, the Region and Porchlight will be opening an overnight warming centre at Wesley United Church, located at 6 Cambridge Street, Cambridge. In order to align with the most acute local needs, while also ensuring safety, this location is currently serving exclusively cis and trans men.

A dedicated Women's Emergency Shelter is also available in Cambridge, operated by YWCA of Cambridge. Information about this facility can be found by calling First Connect at 519-624-9133 or by visiting the Region of Waterloo's web page on Emergency Shelters.

Support Us

Donations in Kind

Through the warming centre, Porchlight distributes items to help people stay warm throughout the winter.

We welcome donations of new socks, underwear, and hygiene supplies for men.

New or lightly used and clean donations of men's shirts, jogging pants, hats, mitts and blankets coats, and boots would also be appreciated.

You can drop off donations at Porchlight's office, 1315 Bishop Street North Unit 203
Cambridge, ON, Mon.-Thur. 9am-8pm or Friday 9am-2pm.

Financial Support

Porchlight is a registered charity which relies on the generosity and support of our community in order to operate and enhance all of our programs within the community.

We'd welcome all financial donations either in support of the Winter Warming Centre specifically, or our programs more generally.

Food

Food is vital to staying warm in the winter, and Porchlight would like to be able to offer food through its Winter Warming Centre. However, our access to appropriate facilities to prepare food and resources to do so are extremely limited. If you're part of a group, or can individually, help us address this gap by preparing food for the centre on a weekly, or bi-weekly basis, please get in touch with our program coordinator Lee Ann at warmingcentre@porchlightcnd.org.

If you'd like to help but are unable to do so routinely, donations of snacks (especially snacks which are packaged and guests can take with them as they leave) are very much appreciated.
