Nancy Kuwabara, M.A., R.P.

Education: Master of Art: Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy, Wilfrid Laurier University. Registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Member of EMDR of Canada and EMDRIA- International.    

Experience: 9+ years in clinical work, 25+ years in group work and community-based service. 

Areas of Specialty: Nancy works from a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach tailored to empower individuals as they explore the healing of the impact of various traumas, complicated grief, family violence, loss, depression, and anxiety. Nancy believes in accompanying individuals as they work to restore a sense of safety, strength, and self-worth. She uses creative art/play therapy approaches to create safe spaces for children and youth to explore and regulate their emotions, process grief and trauma, build strength and resilience, and develop healthier connections in relationships.

Nancy is trained in EMDR, completing training as an EMDR Child Specialist with Ana Gomez and certified in Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment with Dr. Janina Fisher. As well, Nancy holds a certificate in  Bereavement, Grief & Loss from The Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (CACPT). In her practice, she uses various therapeutic approaches deemed to be in the best interest of the client.
